The Richard Carr Foundation (RCF) has established its grant making policy (GMP) to achieve its constitutional objectives for the public benefit, i.e. to improve the lives of people in Woburn, in particular the youth and elderly or infirm. All new grants will be considered if their aims and objectives are inline with the Foundation’s.
We review our GMP annually to ensure that it reflects the Foundation’s objects and thereby advances public benefit. The beneficiaries of our grant-making programme are ultimately Woburn Villager’s; therefore the Foundation invites applications for grants from any local village community projects, particularly those that focus on Woburn’s youth and elderly. Any benefit received by the Foundation or its management committee is purely incidental.
If you wish to make an application for a Grant this needs to be made using the following application form. This can either be returned by post, to the address on our ‘Contact Us’ page, or by email, WOFGrants@hotmail.co.uk.
These simple guidelines will be helpful in establishing if your organisation is suitable to receive a Grant and follow the application process:
- Is the organisation a not-for-profit group/organisation or charity as classified by HMRC?
- All initial applications should include a cover letter that:
- a) Introduces the organisation
- b) Makes a case for how the proposal with align with the Foundation’s aims and objectives
- c) Shows how the proposed project/grant will benefit the Woburn community
All grants will be considered on an annual basis in December as part of our Annual General Meeting; with the money being distributed in the following January. The size of the individual grants will be dependent on both the profitability of the fundraising activity and the number of approved grants received in any given year. All results will be published in The News around Woburn quarterly newsletter and our official website, www.woburnoysterfestival.co.uk.
Grant recipients need to produce a report on how the grants were spent by the following July; they may also be occasionally required to appear before the Foundation’s Grant-making committee to answer questions upon specific progress or direction of any project, should it be required.
The findings and recommendations of the Grant-making committee are then reported to the Management before the AGM. Any further grant distributions will be solely at the discretion of the Foundation based on their findings.
