Woburn Lower School

About

This is my third year as Chairman of the Woburn Oyster Festival, it has been hard work, fun, head scratching and above all rewarding in both helping to support the local community and giving over 12,000 people each year a good weekend.

Since its birth 17 years ago the festival, which started as joke between a few pub landlords and traders has grown into what we find today. The initial concept was to highlight and promote businesses, hotels and pubs within the village as well as the village itself. Hopefully after this year’s event plenty of you will return to this fantastic Georgian village, use its facilities and perhaps to the Safari park or Woburn Abbey.

This year we have for the first time been granted charity status and this will further help us promote the good causes we have done since 1994 within the village, to date we have helped the following:-

  • Woburn Swimming Pool
  • Woburn Lower School
  • The Alms Houses for the Elderly
  • Woburn Village Hall

This year we are open to any organisation or good cause within the village, if you feel you fit the criteria of our charity then please feel free to fill in the online application form and hopefully we can assist in your chosen cause.

This year’s event as per previous years has grown and we have to offer the following:-

  • Over fourteen different bands and artist on our stage within the marquee
  • Champagne, Pimms, wine and beer bar
  • Nine different type of food stalls including Seafood and Oyster, BBQ and Hog Roast and a Noodle bar
  • Flea market over two days
  • Seventeen different craft fair stalls, outside St Mary’s Church
  • PTA and Mother and Toddlers provided teas, cakes and children’s fun
  • Street Entertainers

Hopefully you will again support us in numbers, enjoy the attractions we have provided, have a fantastic weekend and assist us in helping local good causes.
